Elliptic and Hyperbolic Dielectric Lens Antennas in mm-Waves
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dielectric lenses can substantially improve antenna parameters, especially the planarity of radiated waves and the antenna gain. The paper deals with their application in millimeter-wave band. The main goal concerns the introduction of characteristics and differences between the most commonly used types of dielectric lens antennas, i.e. elliptic and hyperbolic. Their particular features as well as behavior of radiating systems incorporating the lenses are investigated. Specific features of these lenses are discussed for both, near-field and farfield based on simulation and measurement results.

Lens Antennas – Analysis and Synthesis at mm-waves
In this paper short introduction in dielectric lens antennas at mm-waves will be given. Dielectric lens antennas become more popular as applications start to migrate to higher frequencies where lens dimensions and weight become small enough and allow easy integration. Typically used feeds and lens shapes will be discussed together with global optimization techniques and analyzing kernels employ...
متن کاملGraphene–dielectric composite metamaterials: evolution from elliptic to hyperbolic wavevector dispersion and the transverse epsilon-near-zero condition
We investigated a multilayer graphene–dielectric composite material, comprising graphene sheets separated by subwavelength-thick dielectric spacer, and found it to exhibit hyperbolic isofrequency wavevector dispersion at farand mid-infrared frequencies, allowing propagation of waves that would be otherwise evanescent in an isotropic dielectric. Electrostatic biasing was considered for tunable a...
متن کاملCoherent beam control with an all-dielectric transformation optics based lens
Transformation optics (TO) concept well known for its huge possibility in patterning the path of electromagnetic waves is exploited to design a beam steering lens. The broadband directive in-phase emission in a desired off-normal direction from an array of equally fed radiators is numerically and experimentally reported. Such manipulation is achieved without the use of complex and bulky phase s...

A broadband gradient index (GRIN) metamaterial lens for gain enhancement of circularly polarized antennas has been automatically designed, fabricated and investigated. The GRIN metamaterial lens consists of an isotropic dielectric plate with a corresponding distribution of deep-subwavelength drill holes each with the same diameter. Such drill holes have a negligible influence on both the polari...
متن کاملFDTD Analysis of Top-Hat Monopole Antennas Loaded with Radially Layered Dielectric
Top-hat monopole antennas loaded with radially layered dielectric are analyzed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Unlike the mode-matching method (MMM) (which was previously used for analyzing these antennas) the FDTD method enables us to study such structures accurately and easily. Using this method, results can be obtained in a wide frequency band by performing only one ti...
